Joey Jones is a celebrated retired marine, inspirational speaker and radio and TV commentator. He was responsible for explosive and ordinance disposal during his Marine Corps role. Besides FOX corporation media, he has appeared on CNN, CBS and ABC. In CBS, Jones has been on CBS Evening News, “Nightline”, “The Real”, “Home& Family”, and “Hallmark Channel.”

Johnny Joey Jones was born on July 21, 1986, in Dalton, Northwest Georgia, in the United States. His father is Joseph Edgar Jones, and his mother is Joyce Marie Jones. He has his adopted younger sister, Marsha Jones Dalton. She was adopted at age 7. 

Joey on the Five grew up in Northwest Georgia in Dalton. He was actively involved in games such as football, baseball, and other sports. Joey has been giving a hand in his fathers’ brick-making business. Besides, he has spent time with his paternal and maternal grandparents.

 Jones went to Southeast High School on Riverbend Road, Dalton, Georgia. During this time, he participated in games and ran on the track. Jones excelled in high school and was among the first to graduate and proceed to college. In 2004, he went to Dalton State College. 

In Dalton Stage college, Jones was in school with regular breaks. Later, before finishing college, he got a job offer to be a forklift driver. Jones joined the Marine Corps after being disappointed by all that life had to bring during college and his part-time job.

Military career 

Johnny Joey Jones nicknamed, ‘Triple J,’ served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years. He specialized to be Explosive Ordinance Disposal (bomb) technician. He was deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq on separate tours to work on destroying improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

During Johnny Joey Jones’s deployment to Afghanistan, their team deactivated and destroyed over 80 IEDs. It includes other vast amounts of explosives. Sadly, on August 6, 2010, he stepped on an IED, which led to the loss of both his legs and wrists. Also, both his right forearm suffered severe damage. 

Following severe injuries, he was evacuated and admitted to Walter Reed National Military in Washington, DC. He recovered successfully and now focuses on easing the recovery journeys of other veterans through charity and motivational journeys.

Where is Joey Jones now? Combat-wounded retired Staff Sergeant Johnny Joey Jones uses his post-traumatic military experience to impact veterans’ lives. Jones shares his perspective on life-changing disability and his gratitude for recovery. While at the Walter Reed National Military hospital, he initiated a peer visitation program, which has seen the wounded veterans encourage the newly wounded military servicemen.

Jones’s genuine work and ability to create rapport easily in the hospital allowed him to work with leaders in political positions and the military. The message of overcoming adversity, even in the worst situations and finding unrivalled strength fueled the wounded degree soldiers to recover fast. After his recovery, he joined Georgetown University to pursue a bachelor’s in Arts. He then worked to founding his first organization, which focused on bettering the lives of veterans. 

Jones began sharing his stories on live television, speaking to live audiences, and writing stories. He connected to people with enormous mental and physical issues through humour, genuineness and relatable experiences. Jones’s beliefs about the need to “Get up, Get Over it and Get Going” has featured him on Fox& Friends, CBS, ABC, Hallmark Channels, and CNN, among other television channels.

Besides, he met with the current president Joe Biden, when he was the vice president.
